Amazon VPC IPAM introduces tagging for IPAM pool allocations
Amazon’s VPC IP Address Manager now supports tagging for IPAM pool allocations, enhancing organization and governance of IP address usage across AWS environments.
Amazon’s VPC IP Address Manager (IPAM) has introduced a new feature allowing users to apply tags to IPAM pool allocations. This enhancement enables customers to better organize, govern, and control access to specific IP address allocations, utilizing the same tagging workflows they employ with other AWS resources.
The Amazon VPC IP Address Manager (IPAM) is designed to assist customers in planning, tracking, and monitoring IP addresses throughout their AWS environments. With this new capability, users can assign tags during the creation of allocations or add them to existing ones. These tags can be integrated with AWS Identity and Access Management (IAM) and Service Control Policies, providing a centralized method for managing IP address usage on a large scale.
For instance, a network administrator has the ability to tag allocations according to different environments. This allows them to enforce IAM policies that permit only the production networking role to allocate from certain pools, while restricting development teams to specific development pools. Furthermore, customers can now search and filter allocations by tag across all IPAM pools, streamlining the process of locating specific IP address ranges within extensive, multi-account environments.
This feature is available at no extra cost in all AWS Regions that support IPAM. For additional information, customers are encouraged to consult the IPAM User Guide. To begin using IPAM, users can visit the IPAM console.
