Marathon season 2 set to launch on June 2

Marathon’s second season will launch on June 2, offering new challenges and gameplay experiences. Players can explore the new Night Marsh zone and utilize fresh tools and strategies during the Open Play Week.

The much-anticipated second season of Marathon is scheduled to debut on June 2, introducing new challenges, opportunities, and gameplay mechanics. Players will have the chance to experience Season 2 firsthand during Marathon Open Play Week from June 2 to June 9. During this week, the entire game will be accessible on PlayStation 5 without the need for a PlayStation Plus membership, and any progress made will seamlessly transition into the new season.

Season 2 will unveil a fresh perspective on the Dire Marsh, a location familiar to veteran players for its perilous terrain. This time, the Marsh will be enveloped in darkness, heightening the suspense and requiring players to rely on stealth and quick reflexes. The new Night Marsh zone will feature areas of complete darkness, challenging players to adapt their strategies. To aid in this endeavor, players will have access to new tools such as attached lights on Runner shells, Darksight scopes, and signal flares. However, these lights could also serve as beacons for adversaries.

New threats will emerge as the anomaly within the Night Marsh intensifies, while the UESC has increased its presence at the Complex building for undisclosed reasons. Players are encouraged to unravel the mysteries of what the UESC might be protecting.

Season 2 will also introduce the Sentinel, a new defensive shell designed to give players control over encounters. Equipped with defensive tools, superior intelligence, and lethal traps, Sentinels can manipulate the pace of battles and turn enemy offensives into costly errors.

Additionally, the Cradle system will provide players with more control over their Runner shell progression. By leveling up WEAVEworms, players can customize their upgrade paths throughout the season, reallocating Energy as needed to unlock new perks and stat enhancements.

A complete reset at the start of Season 2 will ensure all players begin on equal footing, discovering new elements and learning to navigate Tau Ceti together. The season will feature new weapons, including the KKV SMG for close-range combat and the D54 Battle Pistol with an integrated red dot optic, as well as new mods, cores, and implants.

Moreover, Season 2 promises accelerated faction progression, an expanded Vault, improved contracts, and various quality-of-life enhancements. Bungie Rewards will also be introduced, allowing players to unlock exclusive game-inspired rewards by completing in-game challenges. As players dive into the darkness, they are advised to stay vigilant, as unseen dangers may lurk nearby.
