AWS Service Catalog now accessible in Asia Pacific (New Zealand) and Canada West (Calgary) regions

AWS Service Catalog is now available in the Asia Pacific (New Zealand) and Canada West (Calgary) regions, allowing customers to manage and distribute approved IaC products for AWS deployment.

AWS has expanded its Service Catalog to include two new regions: Asia Pacific (New Zealand) and Canada West (Calgary). This development allows customers in these regions to utilize AWS Service Catalog to create, manage, and distribute a catalog of approved Infrastructure as Code (IaC) products for deployment on AWS. Administrators can define these products using AWS CloudFormation or other IaC tools like Terraform.

Each product within the catalog consists of a set of AWS resources, which may range from a single computing instance to a comprehensive multi-tier application. Customers have the ability to share portfolios of these approved products across various AWS accounts and organizational units via AWS Organizations. This feature provides engineers, database administrators, data scientists, and other end-users with consistent self-service access to governed AWS resources throughout their organization.

Furthermore, AWS Service Catalog enables organizations to implement launch and template constraints to regulate how products are provisioned. It also allows for the management of product versions as they evolve and the control of access by individuals, groups, or cost centers through AWS Identity and Access Management (IAM). The Service Catalog is utilized by enterprises, system integrators, and managed service providers to efficiently organize, govern, and provision resources on AWS at scale.
