Where Winds Meet unveils imperial palace expansion with PS5 Pro enhancements
The second major expansion for Where Winds Meet, Imperial Palace, launches on May 28, optimized for PlayStation 5 Pro with enhanced visuals and performance.
Today marks the announcement of the upcoming second major expansion for Where Winds Meet, titled Imperial Palace, set to release on May 28. This significant update has been specifically optimized for PlayStation 5 Pro, promising an enhanced gaming experience.
The development team aimed to create an authentic and immersive Eastern royal court experience, allowing players to fully immerse themselves in the intricacies of the setting. To accomplish this, the expansion has been meticulously optimized to ensure that the rich historical atmosphere and the swift Wuxia combat are seamlessly integrated on the console.
The expansion introduces the Kaifeng Imperial Palace, a vast forbidden city covering over one million square meters. This intricate environment includes grand ceremonial halls and secretive nooks, populated by more than 3,000 dynamic NPCs, creating a vibrant and evolving palace ecosystem. Players will enter under the guise of an investigation, joining the elite intelligence agency, the Office of Martial and Virtue, as undercover agents unravel the hidden truths within the heart of power.
Beyond espionage, the palace offers a lively cultural experience. Players can partake in activities such as Cricket Fighting, seasonal Ice Frolicking, and even jail-breaking from the Imperial Prison. Opportunities to taste royal meals and encounter hidden martial arts masters add to the palace’s allure. However, dangers lurk in the shadows, as players will confront the dynasty’s dark history in the Sealed Treasury, face illusions in the Confinement Tower, and battle formidable World Bosses like the Silken Wrath and the Royal Kitten.
The PlayStation 5 Pro version enhances the game’s visuals and performance. Ray-traced reflections provide stunning effects, especially on water surfaces within the palaces, while moats and courtyard ponds reflect the glow of lanterns, drifting clouds, and character movements dynamically. The PS5 Pro maintains stable performance at approximately 60fps, ensuring smooth exploration.
With the upgraded PSSR super-resolution, visual clarity has significantly improved. Details such as roof ridge curves, ceiling paintings, and intricate lantern textures are sharper and more defined. PSSR also enhances dynamic stability, reducing ghosting and flickering when moving swiftly across rooftops or scanning for clues.
The gates of Kaifeng are opening, revealing the empire’s deepest secrets. Players are invited to draw their blades, ready their resolve, and venture into the majestic and perilous shadows of the Imperial Palace on May 28.
