Amazon FSx for NetApp ONTAP’s second-generation file systems are now available in four more AWS Regions, enhancing performance scalability and flexibility for users. This includes new availability in Europe, Asia Pacific, South America, and AWS GovCloud.

The second-generation Amazon FSx for NetApp ONTAP file systems have been launched in four additional AWS Regions. These regions include Europe (London), Asia Pacific (Hyderabad), South America (Sao Paulo), and AWS GovCloud (US-West). This expansion allows more users to benefit from the enhanced capabilities of Amazon FSx, which simplifies the deployment, operation, and scaling of high-performance, feature-rich file systems in the cloud.

The second-generation FSx for ONTAP file systems offer improved performance scalability and flexibility compared to the first-generation systems. Users can create or expand their file systems with up to 12 highly-available (HA) pairs of file servers. This setup can deliver up to 72 GBps of throughput and supports up to 1 PiB of provisioned SSD storage, catering to demanding workload requirements.

With this latest regional availability, the second-generation FSx for ONTAP file systems are accessible in multiple AWS Regions. These include US East (N. Virginia, Ohio), US West (N. California, Oregon), Canada (Central), Europe (Frankfurt, Ireland, London, Spain, Stockholm, Zurich), South America (Sao Paulo), Asia Pacific (Hyderabad, Mumbai, Seoul, Singapore, Sydney, Tokyo), and AWS GovCloud (US-West).

Users can create second-generation Multi-AZ file systems with a single HA pair, or Single-AZ file systems with up to 12 HA pairs, depending on their specific needs. For further information and guidance, users are encouraged to consult the FSx for ONTAP user guide.
