Amazon CloudWatch unveils PromQL querying with Query Studio preview
Amazon CloudWatch has launched Query Studio in public preview, integrating PromQL querying for the first time. This feature combines PromQL and CloudWatch Metric Insights, providing a unified interface for querying metrics.
Amazon CloudWatch has introduced Query Studio in public preview, offering a unified platform for query and visualization that incorporates native PromQL querying into CloudWatch for the first time. This new feature merges PromQL and CloudWatch Metric Insights within a single interface, allowing users to query AWS vended metrics and OpenTelemetry metrics using their preferred language without the need to navigate between different consoles.
Query Studio is designed with a visual form builder that includes autocomplete functionality, as well as a code editor featuring syntax highlighting. This makes it user-friendly for both beginners and experienced users alike. For instance, teams managing applications on Amazon EC2 can now correlate their custom OpenTelemetry application metrics with EC2 vended metrics side by side. This capability enables them to swiftly identify issues across their infrastructure, set alarms, or add charts to dashboards directly from their query outcomes.
The Amazon CloudWatch Query Studio is currently available in public preview in several regions, including US East (N. Virginia), US West (Oregon), Asia Pacific (Sydney), Asia Pacific (Singapore), and Europe (Ireland). The standard CloudWatch dashboard pricing applies, and users are encouraged to consult the pricing page for more information.
To begin using the Query Studio, users can access it from the Metrics console or through the dashboard edit mode within the Amazon CloudWatch console. Additional details can be found on the Amazon CloudWatch documentation page.
