Amazon Redshift Serverless launches in Asia Pacific and Canada West regions

Amazon Redshift Serverless is now available in AWS Asia Pacific (Melbourne) and Canada West (Calgary) regions, allowing users to run and scale analytics without managing data warehouse clusters.

Amazon has announced the general availability of its Redshift Serverless in the AWS Asia Pacific (Melbourne) and Canada West (Calgary) regions. This service allows users to run and scale analytics without the need to provision and manage data warehouse clusters.

The Redshift Serverless solution aims to provide data analysts, developers, and data scientists with the ability to derive insights from data swiftly. It automatically provisions and scales data warehouse capacity intelligently to ensure high performance across analytics tasks. Users are charged only for the compute resources consumed, calculated on a per-second basis, making it a cost-effective solution.

The introduction of Amazon Redshift Serverless simplifies the process of running analytics without requiring any modifications to existing analytics and business intelligence applications. Users can easily start querying data using the AWS Management Console, utilizing the Query Editor V2 or other preferred tools. There is no need for manual configurations such as selecting node types, node counts, workload management, or scaling.

With Amazon Redshift Serverless, users can create databases, schemas, and tables, and load data from Amazon S3. It also allows access to data through Amazon Redshift data shares or by restoring an existing Amazon Redshift provisioned cluster snapshot. Additionally, users can directly query data in open formats like Apache Parquet and Apache Iceberg stored in Amazon S3 data lakes.

The service offers unified billing for queries across these data sources, aiding in efficient cost monitoring and management. Further information on getting started with Amazon Redshift Serverless can be found on the feature page, user documentation, and API Reference.
