Amazon S3 Express One Zone introduces support for S3 Inventory

Amazon S3 Express One Zone now supports S3 Inventory, enabling scheduled reports on stored objects’ metadata and encryption status, enhancing compliance and workflow efficiency.

Amazon S3 Express One Zone, a specialized high-performance storage class designed for applications requiring low latency, has announced its support for S3 Inventory. S3 Inventory offers a scheduled alternative to the synchronous List API of S3, allowing users to generate reports on a daily or weekly basis. These reports detail the objects stored within an S3 directory bucket or under a specified prefix, along with their metadata and encryption status. This feature aims to streamline business processes and support big data workflows by providing a means to verify object encryption status, thereby helping organizations meet business, compliance, and regulatory requirements.

Users can utilize the AWS Command Line Interface (CLI), AWS Software Development Kits (SDKs), or S3 API to set up daily or weekly inventory reports. These reports can cover all objects within an S3 directory bucket or a selected subset of objects sharing a prefix. During configuration, users can designate a destination S3 bucket for the inventory report, choose the output file format—options include CSV, ORC, or Parquet—and select specific object metadata necessary for their business needs, such as object name, size, last modified date, storage class, multipart upload flag, and encryption status.

The S3 Inventory feature for S3 Express One Zone is accessible in all AWS Regions where this storage class is available. For detailed pricing information, users are encouraged to visit the S3 pricing page. Additional information can be found in the S3 Inventory documentation.
