Hyundai Motor has launched South America’s first fleet of XCIENT Fuel Cell Class-8 heavy-duty trucks, marking a significant step toward advancing low-carbon freight solutions in the region. This initiative is part of Hyundai’s participation in the Kahirós Project, which aims to develop green hydrogen infrastructure and contribute to the decarbonization of timber logistics in Uruguay.

The project has attracted investment from the Santander Group and receives support from the International Finance Corporation of the World Bank, as well as the United Nations’ Renewable Energy Innovation Fund. These collaborations are pivotal in promoting sustainable transport solutions and reducing carbon emissions in the logistics sector.
