Samsung showcases design innovation at Red Dot Design Award 2026

Samsung Electronics achieved significant recognition at the Red Dot Design Award 2026, with all 16 of its entries acknowledged for design innovation. The OLED TV S95H, awarded Best of the Best, exemplifies Samsung’s human-centered design approach.

In today’s design landscape, the focus extends beyond mere aesthetics to include user preferences and integration with the surrounding environment. Samsung Electronics exemplified this approach, known as “Expressive Design,” by achieving significant recognition at the prestigious Red Dot Design Award 2026. All 16 of Samsung’s entries were acknowledged, highlighting the company’s commitment to innovative design.

Samsung Newsroom engaged with designers from the Visual Display (VD) Business to explore their design philosophy and the innovations that led to this achievement.

OLED TV S95H: A new direction in TV design

The OLED TV S95H was awarded the Best of the Best in the Product Design category. This model redefines the minimalist TV design paradigm by emphasizing necessary elements and showcasing its structure, creating an art-like display with a screen that appears to float.

Chulyong Cho, Head of the Design Team at Samsung Electronics, explained the shift from conventional bezel-less designs, stating that as TVs grow larger, they must blend naturally into living spaces, akin to furniture or lifestyle objects. This led to the development of the S95H, which features various colors and materials, allowing users to personalize their experience.

The FloatLayer design, where the screen appears to float in front of a metal frame, was intended to enhance both the atmosphere of the space and viewing immersion. By exposing the metal plate, the contrast between the screen and its surroundings is softened, allowing the TV to seamlessly integrate into its environment.

Customization and zero-gap wall mounting

The S95H also features magnetic, attachable decorative frames available in different colors and materials, enabling users to reflect their personal taste. Jaeneung Lee, Head of the Product Design Group, noted the importance of accommodating diverse interior preferences.

Addressing the growing preference for zero-gap wall mounting, Lee highlighted that essential operational elements like sound and vent holes were discreetly integrated, allowing the TV to sit closely against the wall and maintain its aesthetic appeal.

Convergence of design, sound, and usability

Beyond its visual appeal, the S95H delivers immersive audio through the gap between the screen and the metal plate. The Wireless One Connect solution further enhances the design by minimizing cable clutter, ensuring a clean, refined look.

Samsung’s success at the Red Dot Design Award 2026, including the Best of the Best recognition for the OLED TV S95H and the Bespoke AI Laundry series, underscores the company’s commitment to evolving TVs into lifestyle objects that reflect user preferences and harmonize with any space. Samsung aims to continue advancing its human-centered Expressive Design philosophy to transform homes and daily lives.
