Amazon EC2 C8a instances now available in the Asia Pacific (Tokyo) region

AWS has launched its compute-optimized EC2 C8a instances in the Asia Pacific (Tokyo) region, offering enhanced performance and price-efficiency. These instances are ideal for high-performance computing tasks.

Amazon Web Services (AWS) has announced the availability of its compute-optimized EC2 C8a instances in the Asia Pacific (Tokyo) region, starting today. These instances are powered by 5th Generation AMD EPYC processors, previously known by the code name Turin, which can reach a peak frequency of 4.5 GHz. The C8a instances offer up to 30% higher performance and up to 19% improved price-performance ratio compared to their predecessors, the C7a instances.

In addition to enhanced performance, the C8a instances provide 33% more memory bandwidth than the C7a instances, making them particularly suitable for workloads that are sensitive to latency. For example, they can execute GroovyJVM tasks up to 57% faster, thus improving response times for applications based on Java.

The C8a instances are available in a variety of 12 sizes, including two bare-metal options, allowing businesses to tailor their infrastructure to meet specific workload demands. These instances are built on the AWS Nitro System and are well-suited for high-performance and compute-intensive tasks such as batch processing, distributed analytics, high-performance computing (HPC), ad serving, highly-scalable multiplayer gaming, and video encoding.

Customers interested in utilizing these instances can access them via the AWS Management Console. They are available for purchase through Savings Plans, On-Demand instances, and Spot instances. For further details, customers are encouraged to visit the Amazon EC2 C8a instance page.
