GDC 2026: Samsung and global game studios are transforming the gaming experience
At the GDC 2026, Samsung showcased its latest Odyssey gaming monitors, featuring advanced 3D technology and HDR10+ GAMING, offering an immersive experience that captivated industry leaders and gaming enthusiasts.
The Game Developers Conference (GDC) Festival of Gaming 2026 took place from March 9-13 at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, attracting developers, technical leaders, and industry experts eager to explore how the latest advancements in display technology are enhancing the PC gaming experience.
During the event, Samsung Electronics presented its latest Odyssey gaming monitors and technologies at the San Francisco Marriott Marquis. The showcase brought together industry leaders, gaming enthusiasts, and media to experience the latest Odyssey monitor lineup while playing popular games such as Cyberpunk 2077 and Hell is Us.
Throughout the week, the Samsung Odyssey Gaming Lounge became a hub for PC visuals, featuring groundbreaking demos and open discussions about the future of gaming displays. Floyd Broadnax, a gaming content creator, remarked, “Samsung has redefined 3D gaming — the technology is so sharp and crisp.”
The highlight of the showcase was the Odyssey 3D monitor, which employs advanced eye-tracking and view-mapping technology to deliver a glasses-free 4K 3D experience. This feature adjusts depth in real time, offering players a new level of immersion in gameplay.
Visitors were eager to try Hell is Us by Rogue Factor on the 27-inch Odyssey 3D (G90XF), ahead of its wider release in Samsung’s 3D gaming library. Ashley Rodgers, another gaming content creator, noted that the technology would significantly enhance her gaming experience.
The event also featured Cronos: The New Dawn, showcasing the immersive potential of 3D gaming through a launch trailer. Jonathan Jacques-Belletête, Creative Director at Rogue Factor, praised Samsung for understanding both games and the developers’ mindset.
Technical leaders were captivated by the next-generation displays, especially HDR10+ GAMING. This feature allows developers to see scene-by-scene information sent to the monitor, ensuring accurate representation of highlights, shadows, and colors. The 32-inch Odyssey G8 6K (G80HS) also drew attention for its high resolution, which enhances UI and environmental detail.
Kevin Lee, EVP of Customer Experience at Samsung Electronics, emphasized the company’s commitment to delivering exceptional gaming experiences through partnerships with global gaming studios. A roundtable discussion featured industry leaders like Jakub Knapik from CD Projekt RED and Piotr Babieno from Bloober Team, who discussed integrating new display technologies across genres and platforms.
Samsung’s momentum in gaming innovation continues, with plans to expand its 3D game portfolio to over 120 titles by the end of 2026. As partnerships deepen and consumer interest grows, Samsung is poised to lead the next-generation gaming landscape with its comprehensive suite of monitor technologies.
