PlayStation launches ‘The Playerbase’ to integrate fans into games
PlayStation has launched ‘The Playerbase,’ a program allowing fans to feature in games starting with Gran Turismo 7. This initiative aims to deepen fan engagement and expand across more titles.
For more than three decades, PlayStation has continually sought ways to honor its gaming community, recognizing its crucial role in both the brand’s history and its future. Today, PlayStation is thrilled to announce a new initiative that allows dedicated fans to engage more deeply with the PlayStation experience.
The initiative, known as ‘The Playerbase,’ offers PlayStation’s most passionate enthusiasts the chance to have their likeness scanned and incorporated into a PlayStation game. This program will kick off with Gran Turismo 7, with plans to extend this opportunity to other PlayStation Studios titles over time.
The Playerbase will be accessible in selected regions across the Americas, Europe, Asia, South Africa, and Australia. Interested participants can learn more about the program, review the official rules, and submit their applications by visiting playstation.com/the-playerbase from 7:00 AM PT today. Applicants will be required to answer questions about their PlayStation experiences and log in with their PlayStation account ID to provide additional information.
Following the application review process, a select group of finalists will be invited to participate in video interviews, where PlayStation will learn more about their gaming journey and connection to the brand. From these finalists, one fan will be chosen to feature in Gran Turismo 7 as part of The Playerbase. This special appearance will include an in-game character portrait, similar to existing game characters. Additionally, the selected fan will collaborate on designing a custom Fantasy Logo and a unique vehicle livery, which will be permanently added to the game’s Showcase menu. This process will involve a visit to a visual arts studio in Los Angeles for a scanning session and design collaboration.
PlayStation is eager to expand The Playerbase as more PlayStation Studios titles participate, allowing fans to be featured in ways that align with each game’s unique style and world.
