Amazon EC2 C8gn, M8gn, and R8gn instances enhance EBS performance
AWS has enhanced Amazon EBS performance for its EC2 C8gn, M8gn, and R8gn instances, doubling the bandwidth and IOPS. This upgrade is available at no extra cost in all regions where these instances are offered.
Amazon Web Services (AWS) has announced an upgrade in performance for Amazon Elastic Block Store (Amazon EBS) on its Amazon EC2 C8gn, M8gn, and R8gn instances, specifically in the 48xlarge and metal-48xl sizes. These instances are designed for network optimization and are powered by AWS Graviton4 processors alongside the latest 6th generation AWS Nitro Cards.
With recent advancements to the AWS Nitro System, the maximum EBS performance for these instances has been significantly increased. The bandwidth has been doubled from 60 Gbps to 120 Gbps, and the input/output operations per second (IOPS) have risen from 240,000 to 480,000. This enhancement is particularly beneficial for customers managing network-intensive workloads that demand heightened block storage performance, such as data analytics and high-performance file systems.
The improved EBS performance is available to all existing and new C8gn, M8gn, and R8gn instances in the specified sizes, effective immediately and at no extra cost. Customers can take advantage of this enhancement by stopping and restarting their current instances. The increased performance is accessible in all AWS regions where these instance types are currently available.
