AWS Marketplace introduces Discovery API for enhanced catalog data access

AWS Marketplace has launched the Discovery API to provide programmatic access to detailed product and pricing data, enhancing procurement processes and vendor evaluations.

Amazon Web Services (AWS) Marketplace has officially launched the Discovery API, a new tool designed to provide programmatic access to comprehensive product and pricing data within the AWS Marketplace catalog. This includes resources such as Software as a Service (SaaS), artificial intelligence tools, Amazon Machine Images (AMI), container solutions, and machine learning models.

The introduction of the Discovery API allows buyers to integrate catalog data into their internal systems, enhancing procurement processes with up-to-date pricing and offer information. This development is set to simplify vendor evaluation procedures by enabling the seamless embedding of AWS Marketplace data into organizational workflows.

Additionally, sellers and channel partners are now equipped to display product listings, pricing, and details of private offers directly on their websites and online storefronts. This capability is expected to facilitate a smoother customer journey by allowing potential buyers to browse, compare, and make purchasing decisions within the partner’s platform, without needing to navigate away.

The API delivers access to detailed product descriptions, categorization, public and private pricing, as well as offer terms. This wealth of information enables the creation of customized experiences that align with how organizations search for and acquire software via AWS Marketplace.

Presently, the AWS Marketplace Discovery API is operational in several regions, including US East (N. Virginia), US West (Oregon), and Europe (Ireland). To begin using the API, users need to configure Identity and Access Management (IAM) permissions within their AWS accounts and can initiate API calls through the AWS Software Development Kit (SDK). For further details, users are encouraged to consult the AWS Marketplace Discovery API Reference documentation.
