Samsung Knox secures CC certification for monitors

Samsung Electronics has secured Common Criteria certification for its monitors with Samsung Knox, extending its verified security from smart TVs to monitors. This makes Samsung the first company to achieve such certification for both product lines.

Samsung Electronics has announced that its security solution, Samsung Knox, has achieved the Common Criteria (CC) certification for its monitors. This certification extends the verified security that Samsung has maintained on its smart TVs for over a decade.

The Common Criteria certification is an internationally recognized standard used to evaluate the security integrity of products requiring data protection. It provides a global framework that harmonizes various assessment criteria across different countries, allowing for mutual recognition of security evaluations. Since 2015, Samsung has consistently obtained CC certification for its new products, reinforcing the reliability of its security technology. With this latest achievement, Samsung becomes the first manufacturer to secure CC certification for both monitors and smart TVs.

“Connected displays have become central to how we work and live, making verified security essential,” stated Taeyong Son, Executive Vice President of Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics. “With Samsung Knox now certified on both smart TVs and monitors, we are delivering that protection consistently across our products.”

Samsung Knox is designed to protect users from cyber threats such as hacking, especially in areas requiring robust security like AI home control, AI voice recognition, and credit card transactions.

The CC certification highlights three key security features of Samsung Knox:

  • System Integrity Monitor (SIM): Provides real-time monitoring of the kernel to ensure system integrity.
  • Web Browser Security (WBS): Blocks phishing websites to safeguard users while browsing the internet.
  • Unauthorized Execution Prevention (UEP): Validates digital signatures to prevent unauthorized actions.

Samsung Knox also ensures a robust security environment through its multi-layered architecture, which includes TrustZone, a hardware-based independent security layer; Knox Vault, a separate layer for sensitive data; and Knox Matrix, a security management layer for connected devices.

Knox Vault is available on select Neo QLED 8K TVs and M9, M8 monitors, while Knox Matrix will be supported on all TVs and monitors starting from 2024.
