Samsung Electronics has partnered with the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art to bring modern art masterpieces to the Samsung Art Store, marking SFMOMA as the first West Coast museum on the platform.
Samsung Electronics has announced a collaboration with the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA) to introduce a range of modern art masterpieces to the Samsung Art Store. This partnership marks SFMOMA as the first West Coast museum to join the platform, broadening Samsung Art Store’s prestigious institutional collaborations. The initial release, available today, includes 34 significant works from SFMOMA’s esteemed collection, featuring renowned artists of the 20th century.
For the first time, users of the Samsung Art Store can showcase famous artworks such as Diego Rivera’s “The Flower Carrier” (1935), Henri Matisse’s “Femme au chapeau” (1905), Wayne Thiebaud’s “Display Cakes” (1963), Jackson Pollock’s “Guardians of the Secret” (1943), and Piet Mondrian’s “New York City 2” (1941) on select Samsung displays, transforming any room into an impressive gallery space.
This collaboration significantly enhances the accessibility of SFMOMA’s collection, marking Samsung Art Store’s first introduction of works by Robert Rauschenberg and Wayne Thiebaud. “Samsung is dedicated to using its leading visual display solutions and partnerships to enrich the Samsung Art Store experience globally,” stated Heeyeong Ahn, Vice President of the Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics. “Our partnership with SFMOMA is an exciting step in expanding our offerings of 20th-century masters and we anticipate further enriching our collection through future high-profile collaborations.”
Christopher Bedford, the Helen and Charles Schwab Director of SFMOMA, remarked, “This partnership with Samsung Art Store opens a new chapter in how we connect people with modern and contemporary art. By leveraging innovative technology, we are reaching audiences who may never visit San Francisco, creating new opportunities for art to enrich daily life worldwide.”
Samsung’s Art TVs, including The Frame and The Frame Pro, are designed to present artwork with authentic color and detail, emulating a gallery-like experience. Features such as Pantone Validated ArtfulColor, Anti-Reflection with Matte Display, and customizable bezels create the appearance of framed artwork. The Frame Pro offers an upgraded Neo QLED 4K display for enhanced color and contrast, with a Wireless One Connect Box for a streamlined setup.
By partnering with cultural institutions like SFMOMA, Samsung continues to democratize access to art, supporting museums in sharing their collections with wider audiences. The SFMOMA collection joins over 80 partnerships within the Samsung Art Store, providing subscribers with an extensive selection of art from various movements and styles.
The collection is now exclusively available through the Samsung Art Store on Samsung Art TVs.
