Cyberpunk 2077 PlayStation 5 Pro update offers advanced enhancements

Cyberpunk 2077’s latest update for PlayStation 5 Pro introduces 4K visuals, improved performance, and advanced ray tracing, enhancing the gaming experience in Night City.

The developers of Cyberpunk 2077 are set to release a new update for the PlayStation 5 Pro, aiming to leverage the console’s advanced technology. The update, available from April 8, will introduce a range of enhancements including 4K visuals, improved performance, and advanced ray tracing to enhance the gaming experience in Night City.

The update seeks to fully utilize the capabilities of the PS5 Pro, providing players with stunning visuals and a more immersive experience. Cyberpunk 2077 is currently part of the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog, allowing PS5 Pro owners to enjoy this enhanced version of the game and pursue their journey to become a cyberpunk legend.

A key feature of the update is the introduction of PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) technology. This technology upscales each pixel using sophisticated artificial intelligence, resulting in a vivid and lifelike representation of Night City. From thermal katanas to high-speed sports cars, every element of the game receives a visual upgrade.

Additionally, the update includes an improvement in ray tracing technology. Lighting plays a crucial role in the aesthetic of Cyberpunk 2077, and with the new BVH8 support, the game now features enhanced ray-traced lighting, shadows, and reflections. This development brings the game’s lighting closer to the developers’ artistic vision, enhancing the player’s immersion.

The update provides three distinct modes for players to choose from, catering to different gaming preferences. The Ray Tracing Pro mode enables all ray tracing features, offering the most visually advanced experience at 40 frames per second on VRR-enabled displays or 30 frames per second otherwise. Performance mode focuses on achieving the highest frame rate, reaching up to 90 frames per second with VRR, while maintaining high image quality. For a balance between visuals and performance, the Ray Tracing mode offers selected enhancements at a smooth 60 frames per second.

The developers express excitement about bringing this update to players and appreciate the support from the Cyberpunk 2077 community over the years. With the game available at no extra cost to PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium members, they hope to attract new players to Night City.
