Hive, part of Centrica (British Gas), has announced it will shut down support for select home security products—including its cameras, siren, and HomeShield system—on August 1, 2025. After that deadline, all associated footage will be deleted permanently. Hive emphasized this move reflects its strategic prioritization of energy-efficient smart technologies over legacy security offerings. Door and motion sensors will continue working. Users have been urged to back up critical video recordings before cutoff. Hive also encouraged responsible recycling of obsolete devices, noting that ongoing upkeep was no longer cost-effective given declining usage.
